Welcome!
In 1971, Firelands Audubon Society (FAS, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Erie and Huron counties of Ohio), was formed with a mission statement to:
protect, preserve and appreciate natural habitat for birds and wildlife through conservation and education.

Firelands Audubon Program and activities Update
Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Firelands Audubon Society took precautionary measures, suspencing group activities. However, we now feel comfortable resuming in-person activities. Stay tuned for updates, as we will soon be announcing in-person programs, such as expert speakers and group bird walks.
The Firelands
The Firelands area encompasses Erie County, Huron County and the Marblehead area of Ottawa County. These areas include a wonderful variety of marshes, beaches, hardwood forests, rivers, streams, estuaries and more. Learn about excellent birding areas and our local birds here.
Christmas Bird Count
The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a long-standing tradition of the National Audubon Society with over 100 years of citizen science involvement. This early winter bird census will cover our CBC circle in an effort to record birds over a 24-hour period.
Events and Field Trips
FAS offers a variety of field trips and birding workshops for all levels of birders.
Seasonal Bird walks in various locations throughout the area are fun and informative for everyone.
