Firelands Audubon Society offers many interesting and worthwhile causes to become involved with. Each year there is a scholarship awarded and an art contest held for the youth of Huron and Erie Counties.

  • for all Huron and Erie County students grades K-12.

  • depict an Ohio plant or animal

  • your choice of medium

  • provide information about the species of choice

  • ribbons and prizes awarded to winners in each category

  • Art displayed at Earth Day Extravaganza


The Dean Sheldon Jr. Memorial Scholarship

a $750.00 scholarship is available each year to any full time sophomore, junior or senior student living in Erie or Huron County who is attending an accredited college or university.

The student must have a declared major of:

  • Environmental science

  • forest management

  • geoenvironmental science

  • interpretive services

  • landscape management 

  • natural resources

  • recreation administration

  • or a closely related field
